BAM FAQ

The game

  • Bomb mode: a bomb, randomly assigned to a player, explodes if you hold it for 30 seconds. Hit other players to pass the bomb!
Crown mode: capture and hold the crown for 60 seconds!
Punch mode: deathmatch; 5 lives; don’t fall off the arena; last one standing wins!

  • Left hand stick: movement
Right hand A-button: jump + hold for jetpack
Triggers: punching. Your arms control your robot’s arms, so put your hands in front of you to attack.
Grip buttons: laser pointers help for aiming (works great with lasers, grenades, or superpunch powerups)

Pro tip: punch up for increased airtime
Workout: you can also really punch instead of using the triggers

Multiplayer

  • Each player needs a headset with a separate account. Make sure you’re Meta friends (mutual followers). Connecting to play together can be done in two ways:

    1. In the Quest go to ‘People’, start a call with who you want to play with, and then start BAM.
    2. Start BAM and choose ‘Private Match’ > ‘Invite Friends’. Invite who you want to play with, and a server will boot up to play together.

  • Yes, but you need two separate Meta accounts. You can add a secondary account and enable App Sharing so you don’t have to purchase BAM twice ;-)

  • Currently, BAM supports four players. Additional players can join as ‘viewers’ (indicated with an eye-icon on the scoreboard).

Setup

  • You can play BAM pretty much anywhere. No special requirements.

If you are playing with several people in the same room, it is best to stand facing each other around the shared arena. If that is not possible, set up separate play areas so that the arena is not shared.

  • Yes, Wi-Fi and internet connection.

Troubleshooting

  • Arenas should sync automatically when you start a game. If not, maybe…

    — a guardian isn’t set up right. Solution: go to Settings > Physical Space > Create New Boundary.
    — someone didn’t give permission to share point cloud data. Solution: go to Settings > Privacy > Device Permissions > enable ‘Share point cloud data’.
    — the headsets haven’t had enough time to sync the point cloud. Solution: wait a while.
    — too much is changing in the room (eg. people walking around) and the headsets have trouble orienting. Solution: play in a place with clear and stable anchor points.

If these steps don’t solve the problem, remove the boundary history on your headset (go to Settings > Physical Space > Clear Boundary History). Then create a new boundary.

  • — If you suddenly see X and PLAY balloons, you pressed the hamburger button (left hand). Solution: press the hamburger button again or pop the PLAY balloon.
    — If you suddenly seed the Resume/Quit screen, you pressed the Meta button (right hand). Solution: press the Meta button again or choose Resume.

When playing BAM, just keep this finger position: left hand stick, right hand A-button, index on triggers.

Various

  • Show others what you’re seeing in VR by casting to your phone, computer, or Chromecast-supported TV. To get started, go to Camera in your headset or open the Meta Quest mobile app.

  • Not yet, sorry.
